We are super stoked with entries for this year’s Vines and Views MTB Classic.  Looks like our biggest one yet!  The weather forecast for the weekend looks fantastic. Plenty of sunshine.

ROUTE UPDATE - 80km event:  Total distance 76,5km. 1,650m of climbing. We made some changes to the route due to rising water levels of the Olifants river.  Luckily this will have very little effect on the dynamics of the race.  More details at race briefing.

Registration:  Friday 30 Aug from 16:00 – 20:00,   Saturday 31 Aug from 06:00 - 07:00 at Die Keldery, Vredendal. 

Online entries are closed. Late entries & changes to entries can be done at Friday’s registration at no extra cost.

Race briefing Friday at 18:00 followed by live music by Gian Groen.  The show is free and open to the public.  Food and drinks can be purchased at the venue.   Orders for breakfast buns for Saturday morning can also be placed on Friday.

Please note the 80km route is recommended for fit and experienced riders only. You can change your route option at Friday’s registration, at no extra cost.

Starting Times & Venue:  All 3 distances will start and finish at Die Keldery:  07:30 (80km); 8:30 (55km); 09:15 (25km).  There will be 1 starting batch for each distance.  The Fun Run starts at Teubes Wines at 09:00.

Cutt-Off is at 12:30 at waterpoint 3 (55km event) / waterpoint 4 (80km event).  Cutt-off will be STRICTLY enforced. Prize giving at 12:30.

Mechanics:  Please ensure your bike is in perfect working order as the event does not offer mechanical services.  Event assistance en route is only available for medical emergencies or retirement from the race.

NO OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE allowed at any point, as per CSA rules. This includes feeding and technical assistance.

Medics and ambulances are on standby at various points throughout the route.

Waterpoints on the 80km trail at:  16km, 37km (checkpoint), 56km, 68km, 80km (finish)

Waterpoints on the 55km trail at:  16km, 36km, 47km, 55km (finish)

Waterpoints on the 25km trail at:  13km, 17km, 25km (finish)

Timing is done by Race Online.  Temporary timing boards can be purchased @ R20 each at registration. Timing boards are compulsory for all distances.  Please ensure your personal and race details are captured correctly at the timing table.

Vines and Views is a CSA sanctioned event.  All riders not in possession of a valid CSA membership are required to purchase a day license at registration.  Proof of membership must be provided at registration.  Day licenses will not be accepted for the purpose of Western Cape Championship positions.

The Lutzville Vineyards KOM/QOM will be determined on Strava.  This is a social competition and not part of the formal proceedings.  Strava results must be uploaded at 12pm on race day.  Details of this competition can be found on our social media pages.

E-bikes are allowed, but do not qualify for any podium positions or prizes.  E-bikes will start at the back of each batch.

Riders will be issued a coloured wristband at registration. Each race has a different coloured band:  yellow (80km), red (55km), blue (25km). Wearing these wristbands are compulsory when entering the starting chute as well as during the entire race.
